Craft / detailing: African batik is a traditional textile art where intricate patterns are created using a wax-resist dyeing technique. Artisans melt beeswax, paraffin, or even cassava starch to paint or stamp designs onto cotton fabric, shielding those areas from the dye baths. The fabric is then dyed, cooled, and boiled to melt away the wax, revealing vibrant, multi-colored contrasting patterns that frequently feature a unique cracked effect where the dye seeped into fractures in the hardened wax layer.; Wax-resist dyeing; Aari hand-embroidered
